Think you must have meant "tenure".

Hey - Lexismom - I deleted 2 items from PM. How you would send an e-mail is to click on my name, get the pull-down box, and click on send an e-mail to this person. I noticed you and I did exchange PMs about schools - we are doing many of the same schools but some are at different times. Our Elon audition is not this week but later.

Here is the deal with us - I want to meet all of you when at auditions but I'm not going to post our audition dates publicly. I'll share privately in an e-mail if you have it activated. I've told my son that I'll stop being so public about specifically what he is doing on the forum. Let me assure all of you, my CC friends, that as soon as this process is behind us, I'll tell you where we have auditioned and what the results were and what he chooses (in the hopes he has a choice!).

If I see that you are going somewhere at the same time as us, I'll send you an e-mail if yours is activated. That PM box and keeping it cleaned out is too hard for me!!! Otherwise, I'll try to remember to wear my flag lapel pin at auditions and tie a red ribbon around the handle of my backpack.

We've already found several people to meet at most of the fall audition dates (through private e-mails) - should be fun!

Just wanted the CC to know we are all ok in Dallas. Not sure about home due to conflicting stories but prepared for the worst. Thanks to all for the positive thoughts and we did postpone Elon. D is of course very understanding and positive. We just have to decide on a way to get her back in high school ( need only 2 credits to grad) and unfortunately we hear NOCCA is a loss as well. Be well and I plan to check in. In the meantime, we will be cool!

noccadad - Thank goodness ya'll are okay. You must check out the other thread that is devoted to you at this time - "A special post and a plea to the moderator" - something like that. We are all sending prayers your way. We appreciate you checking in with us.

If you postponed Elon to the very next audition date, let me know, as I now have a list of 5 of us that will be there - we must plan a CC parent reunion.

I nearly cried today hearing on the radio that they are encouraging the storm refugees (we're in Arkansas, nearby) to put their kids in schools here ASAP - all schools will take the students - no school records or immunization records are required. They just want the kids to be in school. Hopefully you'll find the same thing in Dallas.

noccadad,

We are praying for you and your family! Glad to hear that everyone is safe! If you are coming to Elon in the future and need anything, please let me know as I live very nearby and I would try to help in what ever way I can! Stay safe.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to report back on my d's audition last Friday. First let me say this is our first trip to N.C. We found the people from the time we got off the plane to be very friendly and helpful.

Wow - what a gorgeous campus. Beautiful. We started off the morning walking around the campus talking to students etc. Lexie had a rehearsal time at 10:20 (nice - not all schools do this) She went over her audition material and said she did not feel rushed at all. She then observed an acting class which she thought the professor was very good. She observed a freshman class. After that we had an information session parents/students/faculty. This really impessed us. The had 4 or 5 seniors and a junior on stage talking and answering questions. Two senior's sang a duet (Lilly's Eyes) - WOW - very impressed. This session made our d. feel very at ease and comfortable as her audition followed the information session. She said they let you choose the order you would like. She sang u.tempo first followed by ballad then her monologue. They asked her a few questions about 8 in the room. She was so happy she started with Elon as they made her feel so at ease (like they really wanted her to be successful).
Elon has now moved to the top of my daughters list. She enjoyed meeting and talking with the students - felt she could fit right in. Elon is a class act!!
Hope this helps future auditioners.

Lexismom

Lexismom,

Thanks so much for being gracious enough to relay how things went. No surprise to those of us who've already visited Elon. Glad to hear how comfortable your daughter felt. I'm sure she now feels like she hit the ground running! Tell her to break a leg on those to follow!

Does Elon have a cut policy?

They do not have a cut policy and they are a great school to look into! :-)

thanks...everything I have seen leads me to believe that. I am trying to find a some time to schedule a visit.

I'm a freshman at Elon, not part of the music program but incidentally I was very active in MT in high school. If you have any questions about the school in general I can try to answer :)

Elon Univ in North Carolina has come up as a consideration for my D. Does anyone have any information about their MT program such as: ease of entry into MTprogram (i.e. do students get accepted as a freshman or not until junior year); university entrance requirements (GPA; SAT/ACT); audition requirements; quality of curriculum; campus social life; MT class sizes; are their graduates working in MT? Rating of the school overall?

Try searching this forum. I believe most of your questions have been answered, and the search tool is really good. Just type in Elon back on the main mt page, under search this forum.

bump for blacknwhite54

bumped a whole thread on Elon for you. Hope it helps! We are also looking at Elon- will probably visit this winter since D is only a junior this year.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I just learned about Elon this past weekend and wanted to check into it. Clearly, this is a school to be seriously considered, even though its far from home.

I just merged the new Elon MT thread with the original Elon thread. The posts from the new thread started 9/19 are now at the end of this thread here. While they may not make sense out of context with the posts before them, it is best to keep all threads on one program together so that anyone searching for info. on it, can more readily find it, let alone decrease the duplication of threads or topics on the forum.
