Elon University

Mel saw all she needed to see to know that Elon would be a good fit. The people she met were terrific and the campus is beautiful. She thought the audition went well, though it was not as layed back as she had heard. There were about 15 people in the audience! But, for her first MT audition, she left feeling she did the best she could under the circumstances, which is good enough for me.
The show Friday evening was packed, and the kids did a magnificent job. We were impressed with the leads' voices, very classically trained, almost operatic. The choreography was colorful and filled the entire stage with movement and the dancers were a credit to Elon's dance department.
It was fun to meet all the CC parents and kids, too! Now, for the reality check. One of the moms mentioned that of all the kids auditioning Friday, statistically one boy and one girl will be accepted into MT-Ouch. What's good about Elon is that there are other options and majors for those that are not accepted that still want to attend the school that allow them to still audition for the shows.

Bumping for the discussion going on another thread

Anyone out there have any feedback from the second round of auditions this weekend?

I am happy to announce that Elon is having two incredible artists come to our school to give masterclasses in the spring. We have the honor of being taught by Jason Robert Brown in April and Adam Guettel in the beginning of May. They will be teaching class and hearing some of my classmates sing. We are all really excited about it and are counting down the days until we get this great opportunity.

This is not the first time we've had masterclasses like these. Elon's been privledged to have other great artists share their skills with us. Ricky Ian Gordon, John Bucchino, Tony Award winning Micheal Rupert, and New York casting director Dace Clemmons are just among the few. The masterclasses have been an extension of what we learn in the classroom on a day to day basis and a really outstanding opportunity for our department to grow.

We visited Elon yesterday as our D had her audition there. Very impressed with the campus, the MT program and all of the people we met. Students were all enthusiastic and supportive and the audition process was handled in what I thought was an extremely professional manner even though approximately 45-50 students were auditioning that day. Thanks to CC for giving us the opportunity to discover this gem! I'll be happy to respond to PM's when I return home late Sunday evening.

scogor

I have to agree with you. So far I believe Elon was the most organized. Their audition process ran very smoothly. There beautiful campus is hard to beat. As I mentioned before, My d really likes this school (campus, faculty and current students she met while auditioning)and was very happy that Elon was her first audition.

Whoops typing too fast should have said their!! I'll attribute it to sleep loss!

Elon admission status for EA is up online! This is for university academic admission. The music theatre and theatre letters were received last week for fall auditions.

ericsmom, what are doing up this time of night!!!!!!! You better get some rest.

uh oh, i see the times are not posting like my time. don't know what that is about. anyway, it's still early for you.

I was up late finishing Christmas cards and decided to check. It was after midnight!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my cyberspace friends! I hope you find peace this holiday season in the midst of everything else going on in our lives!

Here, Here!!! Peace to us all. May we remember the reason for the season. And may we all find reasons to celebrate our blessings.

I wanted to refer readers interested in Elon to the UCF thread where Showmom has posted about her daughter's first semester at UCF and that she is transferring to Elon this month at semester. This is great news for Showmom's family! In her posting, she explains some differences in the 2 programs.

Great to hear from you all individually! As of this moment, were accepting Elon and cancelling all other auditions. YEAHHHHHHHHHH! Carolina on our minds!

Noccadad - congratulations to your daughter and your family. So happy for you!!!

I know it is well deserved after a difficult year that you all have had.

Noccadad

Great news! Now you can relax and really enjoy the rest of your daughter's senior year - a bonus I'm sure you all treasure even more now considering your past year. So glad you're thrilled with Elon and wish you all the best!

So happy (yet SO jealous) for you and your daughter! I wish we were done! Congratulations!!

It seems that this thread needs some attention, so here are a few things:

I hear from a reliable source that our favorite student Elonactress has a great role in this weekend's production of Urinetown - Break A Leg!!!

I picked up tonight's local paper and found the name of the Elon graduate who is Millie in the Thoroughly Modern Millie tour - coming to us next week, and we have tickets! The neat thing is that we saw her play Lucy in Elon's Jekyl & Hyde when we visited there in fall of 2004. I verified her name in that program and compared it to the one in the paper. I think she took that role straight out of college last summer, previously mentioned on this thread. What fun - we have never seen the show.

My mother called to say that she heard on the opening ceremony of the Olympics that the only athlete there from Bermuda attended college at Elon University in NC. She has taken great interest in following all these schools with us.

Thanks guys! The first 2 nights of Urinetown were outstanding. We had really great houses... and it's a fantastic show. I hope some of you can make it out to see!!!!

Thanks again for the support Ericsmom!

Hi. I'm the mother of a high school sophore who is heavily into music/voice and theatre. She is not a dancer...at all. Perhaps the time step! Anyway, her lack of dancing skills will likely put her out of the running for a serious try at musical theatre....but her voice and acting ability tell her otherwise. Does Elon have a good (excellent?) vocal performance major that would allow her to take some acting and audition for both musical theatre and dramatic productiions? Anyone?
