My son applied to Emory RD. He received an email today from Emory suggesting he also apply to Oxford. Did everyone get this email? I’m trying to determine if this is a standard email, or if Emory is suggesting that Oxford is a better choice. Here is a brief summary. Do you all think he has a good chance for Emory? Oxford is not a choice for him. He has already been accepted to UMich Engineering, IU Kelley Business (direct admit), Perdue Engineering, and some in-state (FL) safety schools. He’s still waiting to hear from GA Tech.

There are several people on the Early Decision 1 thread who received the same email that only applied to Emory and not Oxford. I bet it is only a standard email and Emory just wants to increase the number of applicants to Oxford.
I got this email! I didn’t apply the first time just because I didn’t think I wanted a (more) liberal based education but after reading more about it I totally went for it! I would say go for it, especially if he really wants to go to Emory as he may not get accepted to Emory but may get in to Oxford. However If he is interested in engineering, then I would say maybe focus on the schools that are more science/ math oriented. Still, it can’t hurt especially since all you need to do is just click “yes” (fguratively speaking) without needing to write another essay. It’s a second chance at something you didn’t do before. I hope this helps!
@mom2ljr hey there, don’t worry. It’s just a standard email. I got it too before ED1 results came out, and I thought this meant I got rejected. But I got accepted! So no need to worry about it.
