Brown email addresses…when do you get them?

August, if I remember right.

so what comes next? signing up for those cap courses? roommate assignments? email address? any new info? i feel like nothing is happening--i'm going into withdrawal from mail!

Um. Almost everything that's going to come will come in the first week of August, if I remember from last year. It's a whole pack with a course announcement bulletin, your first registration setup, CAP and FYS lotteries, roommate assignment, email address, and bill. They all come within a week of each other, typically around the first of August when they send out the bill.

At least, that's how it worked my year.

Mmmm, actually, you get your roommate/housing info in August. Everything else comes beforehand. You'll probably get your email around mid-july.

I don't know if they're even still sending a CAB, since they barely printed one for preregistration. They might just send one of those worthless banner printouts. CAPs and FYS should also be sent out sometime in late June.

They have a list of mailings and dates on the Class of 2011 website.

However, these are very conveniently vague dates...so don't make yourself crazy waiting for the mail, lol. ;)

Yeah, I remember being really anxious to get my stuff last year - somehow, you can figure out your e-mail from some registration number on your bill (I don't remember what exactly, but you may be able to find out from someone else). You'll wait and wait all summer for stuff, and then all of a sudden there will be a 4 day span where you will be overwhelmed with brown mail and info - and a lot of stuff you get will also be given to you in a packet at orientation, so don't worry if you're still left confused after some initial mailings.

they sent me an email this morning with directions to activate my email account! and according to the email, they will be sending out course selection stuff over the next few days. i guess they're doing things earlier this year, which works for me!

I got that e-mail as well. I assume that I need to wait for the package in the mail the website talks about to get the ID#? Seems like I can't activate the account until I have this number.

you can get the ID# if you go to the website where you got your admission decision and then click on the registration status link and then go to the right hand corner you'll see it. although i haven't been able to find my inbox yet even when i tried emailing myself...

alvyy, your ID # is your banner ID.
i activated my email but can't locate my inbox either :

After some searching for the actual e-mail account myself, I finally found it was at the obvious http://email.brown.edu ...like, DUH

woohoo, i'm no longer networkless on facebook :D

I was about to post the site but I was beat to it...

Yeah, it is kind of obvious.

Of course, you could look on the CIS webpage where you registered as well:
http://www.brown.edu/cis and that definitely links to the email somewhere.

i still cant check it

I solved the problem! You don't use the first_lastname for the login. you use the first one they gave you. and the same password. really weird since I picked a password for the email. but yeah i can get into my inbox.

AuthIDs are different than the address. You only use AuthIDs on Brown webpages for access.

now you tell me! :)

Haha. Yeah, I agree...forget choosing classes and all that. The Facebook network is the most important thing, for sure. ;)

I was admitted ED and I remember a week or so after I got my decision, the login stopped working. I've gone through my e-mails and used the usernames and passwords there but to no avail. Any EDers have an idea of what to do? I'm talking about logging into the selfservice.brown.edu page, where the admission decision used to be. Overall, I'm trying to find my Banner ID #

Did you get a letter about waiving your health insurance? It's on there.
