Emal + Facebook = About Time

I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll but I have been waiting for my email adress so I could register for facebook for a long time. And so thats what I did today. By using the student ID on the Billing Account Statement I activated my student account thus my email address with no problems. So for all of you facebook maniacs, you should be able to do the same. I’ve started the Brown 2010 facebook group…it’s kinda lonely.

See ya’ll on the 30th. exactly two months away

sweet. only a matter of time before 10ers start friending me out of the blue.

hi guys, i'm an international student.
when did you guys get the Billing Account Statement?
am I to expect it soon?

i recieved the billing statement just recently

I activated my account but cant seem to access my email account. what exactly did you guys do to get into email?

Man, I still haven't gotten my billing statement. I hope I get it tomorrow! I've been waiting for foorever for my Brown facebook.

aargh every time i try to log into the webmail thing it sends me an internal server error message. does anyone else get this or am i just lucky?

yeah, I'm getting errors too. I also can't seem to check my email with IMAP or POP settings. Anyone get these to work?

OK this is what you guys should do.

Log on to
<a href="http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/Doc/Email/indexst.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/Doc/Email/indexst.html</a>
And follow the directions EXACTLY as stated. Trust me.

You should make sure you contact your ISP for the outgoing address. However the CIS website contains a list of those. By the way if your using Verizon DSL the address is outgoing.verizon.net

ANOTHER way you could do it. Which is much simpler is just logging on to email.brown.edu and typing in your username and password. It will take you right to your email account.

I hope I helped you guys. And if the tips work be sure to join the "Brown 2010" facebook group.

Thanks for attempting to help, but actually, following all the specifications exactly as they say was the very first thing I tried. Problem is, I don't have any form of Outlook or IE (uninstalled both because of their recurring egregious security flaws). I would think Thunderbird, or Firefox for the webmail, would work, but it does not, following these settings:
<a href="http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/Doc/Email/advanced.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/Doc/Email/advanced.html</a>
I tried webmail, both POP3 and IMAP4, as well as trying to set up another web email to get Brown email through POP3.

i just had it forward all brown emails to my gmail account... makes things easier...

man, i was going to comment on how us 09ers weren't likely to get randomly friended since most people just friend people in they're own year in a fit of facebook joy, but someone just randomly friended cuz i have the same name as that sister in nacho libre. soo random.

the brown CIS help desk told me they were in fact having problems with email accounts that were set up over this weekend. I tried it again this afternoon and it all works.

slow down d00ds

yeah, is it really necessary to have seven 2010 facebook groups...

any internationals gotten it yet?
