Emory and a big debt or Davidson

Well, just like many other students i have to pick the college i will be spending the next four years of my life in two weeks.
Sadly, my options have been cut short when i found out Emory is giving me six hundred dollars as a grant, in any other occasion i would be thrilled to receive 600 dollars but reality is this school costs 45 thousand dollars... and my parents said they will only pay for 15 thousand..

Another option is Davidson that costs about 36 thousand, if i am not mistaken, and they offered me a 17,500 scholarship and my parents will still pay 15 thousand leaving me a considerable smaller loan to pay off...

What do i do?? I like Emory a lot, besides i want to study math related subjects, so i am a little hesitant that Davidson might fall behind... is it worth making a 120 thousand dollar debt to go to Emory????? HELP

Davidson is an awersome college. It is smaller than Emory, but 20 minutes from a city with lots of distractions.

Davidson kids also have more interaction with their professors and fellow students, a boon for grad school and for staying involved.

Davidson is one of the best colleges in the nation. I would definitely choose Davidson with $ over Emory. Actually, I would choose it even without $, but that's just me.

This should not be an overly difficult decision. I mean, not to belittle what you're struggling with, but it surprises me that you feel going to Davidson represents some kind of sacrifice. Some people would find Davidson an easy choice even without the difference in cost.

I'd choose Davidson, even without the scholarship.
It's a more selective school than emory, and in my opinion, a better school too.

davidson is def. more selective and ranked higher i believe. its a great school. the only downside is the location...

I don't think the location of Davidson is bad. Yes, Davidson is a small town but shopping ,restaurants, movies etc. are within a few miles and the city of Charlotte just a little further.

My husband has heard that in the HR departments of many companies Davidson is top on their lists for recruiting. Very highly respected in the "real" world.

This would be a "no-brainer" if it were me. Davidson. Great school and certainly worth it with the scholarship they are offering you. We visited Davidson last year and loved it. Go to Davidson and don't look back!

yea I agree, Davidson.

Ow its seems Davidson is winning unanimously... well i know a few people would go to Davidson even without the scholarship....
Does everyone agree...comparing the two schools for Math or business, you would still pick Davidson?
Thank you for the previous answers

ohh its def. a little farther than a few miles. i spent three weeks there and the town sucked! but im more of a city person...
anyway there's stuff do on campus or at the lake campus, if you like the outdoors...

I think it's really just a select few who would choose Davidson over Emory if money was no issue... however... in your case... you really should go to Davidson. Davidson is a top LAC, so of course it's really difficult to compare it per se with Emory, but it's a great school.

I don't believe that at all. Most of my friends agree that Davidson is a better school than Emory. Emory is relatively easy to get into over Davidson, especially ed. I go to a school that sends the majority of their students to top tier colleges, so everyone's quite educated about colleges.

600 dollars...how GENEROUS they are...

I don't think either one is any better than the other, so you should definitely go to Davidson since money is an issue.

$600 lol.

The choice is clearly Davidson.
