@Intelligent08
Thanks!
I just got an email… accepted!
“Congratulations! The CORE selection team is pleased to extend an invitation to you for Emory’s overnight program, being held October 12th through the 14th.”

@Volunteerism Congratulations! Could you share some of your stats? Thanks!

@intmain I’m OOS too. From VA.
OOS-Florida
Is Emory you all’s first choice? Also do you guys mind sharing stats?
@VANDEMORY1342 : One has Harvard in their username lol. I question if some are seriously considering it. One person alluded to the program in a way that made it just sound like “something to do” (basically a vacation). I wouldn’t have any expectations.
@VANDEMORY1342
I’m interested in Emory but not quite my 1st choice.

Off the top of my head, but there’s that.
@bernie12
Lol yea I see that now, I didn’t read the whole thread tbh.
@AlmightySadist
Okay that’s nice,
Remember the Reach, Match, Saftey rule. 3 safties, 4 matches, 5 reaches sounds good.
@VANDEMORY1342 are you saying that because of his “stats”? Don’t sound condescending.
Sent my CORE registration today before the 5pm deadline.
@MaybeHarvard2022 : They could be, but it may just be slight shade because they are going to a visitation program at somewhere likely not remotely their top choice program when the top choice may offer one as well. They likely felt they weren’t worth chancing in this particular thread. Either way, I “think” most top privates and publics would be a reach for the person, but that is okay, because a 1280 makes them very qualified, but not necessarily the most competitive for such schools, but when it comes to those that are just outside what most folks associate with “top”, they probably still have some amazing, if not just as good options on their radar. I also encourage those who are not overly into branding and maybe more so into education/their academic path to try much lesser known schools (in terms of lay prestige) that are known for unusually strong programs or teaching. I’m a huge advocate of LAC like schools, even many of the not super elite ones, even if one is going into STEM. I personally don’t like chancing folks because I really don’t know. At somewhere like Emory, things could change on an annual basis in terms of what they want and since they are not gungho on high stats it becomes even harder to predict. I can’t even close to reliably guess if a person that would be in the 75% of admits would get in because so many apply and just aren’t admitted. At some places, there is just a much stronger correlation in that area.
Hey guys, CORE is like less than a week away and to those coming, I hope you have a great time. I’m a CORE host, so if you have any questions about Emory or anything feel free to ask me. Even if Emory isn’t your top choice there’s still stuff you can learn about college life in general. Emory wasn’t my top choice when I went to Essence, the admitted students’ version of CORE, but I loved my experience and decided to come here. I’m not saying that’s going to be your experience, I’m just saying to come, participate in stuff, and have fun.
@QMusic
I am looking forward to attending CORE and learn about all the resources available to Emory students. Thank you for your engagement with CORE.
