Can someone tell me something about Emory?

Hey there!
I was accepted to Emory, but I don't really know much about this college. Can someone tell me what is good about it? The programs, environment, etc. Also how does it compare to UNC-Chapel Hill? Thank you for your time!

Ur kidding right?

apparently not…

Linnus: what did you write for your “why Emory” essay? JW

Okay, I know it’s a school strong in the liberal arts with small classes and small faculty to student ratio. I know that they have a nice business/med program. I know it’s located in Atlanta; therefore, nice climate etc. I know they offer a dual degree in engineering with Gtech. I know the buildings and location is pretty (from the pictures). I know there are a lot of clubs/volunteer opportunities. But…what does that all of that tell me? I don’t know how the classes are like- small okay…so? I don’t know how the professors are like. okay, I heard from one report that they are accessible…that all…one report from a student. I don’t know what the students are like there. Of course I can be generic probably smart, hardworking and what not. But it would be nice to heard it from someone who actually attends Emory, and not based on speculation. All in all, I don’t know much about this college because I haven’t attend it.

@ rodney
I talked about a program there and why it is a good fit for me. Also talk about why the diversity presented at Emory is important for what I want to do in the future, why is a strong education is liberal arts important, why is a small class size important FOR ME.

You should attend Accepted Students Weekend and get first hand answers to your questions.

^ When’s that? I never got an email or anything about it… I don’t really think that is an option for me…especially with my parents.

i don’t think there’s an accepted students weekend at emory is there? i thought emory didn’t have any overnight trips.

the Emory video is available online and is quite good…very illustrative…you can also ask for the DVD…our son watched it twice and was impressed. There are student blogs on the website at Emory as well…read their newspaper.

^ I asked for one…never received it…oh well. I guess I’ll know when I get there…maybe I can find it on youtube…

your question is really broad. You say all of those things you listed are not important to you but what is important.

the 5 second summary of unc vs emory:

big state school with a ton of people from NC (read many clicks already formed)

vs

much smaller more diverse school (but no d1 sports or huge parties).

PM me if you want to get into more details

^ I never said the things I listed were not important to me. It’s just that they are very broad and don’t tell me much about the school.

Emory doesn’t have huge parties? Eh, Never went to a party in my high school career so I doubt that would bother me much…
