chance me?

3.7-8 from emory, econ, business double major. I almost all of my classes so far have been major requirement so my gpa isn't just fluff based.
I have fulfilled all transfer requirements cept a writing course, and I'll be taking that this fall.

3.2-3 unweighted GPA from high school

2240 sats, 790 math, 720 writing, 730 reading
Was national merit finalist, some kind of ap scholar, etc.

I have a decent variety of extracurriculars, not too many leadership roles.

Will apply this fall for winter transfer I will be a sophomore this fall.

What do you think? i'm hoping the greatly improved GPA combined with my solid grades in business class and econ classes will show that I would be a good candidate.

can’t edit anymore…
sat iis were bio, lit:730, bio:790, math ii:750

took 8 aps

Since you are applying as either a sophmore spring or a junior fall transfer, your bad hs gpa will not hurt you that much. But it also means that your decent SAT score will not help you that much either.

3.7~8 at Emory is a decent gpa but you should bring it up even more.
I know there are at least a couple of cornell acceptees at Emory this year . One CAS one CALS and others that I don’t really know.

Start your essay now! it’s gonna take up a lot of time if you do it during the academic year. I had to use freshman-withdraw during my second semester, writing all those stupid common app essays. Make sure you write Cornell-specific essay and show huge interests in them.
If you look thru the collegeconfidential website (she posted her stats) there is one korean girl this year from emory who transferred with 3.4ish freshman gpa to CALS (well I know AEM is a bit harder). So if you write a really good essay, you will probably get in.

I just finished my freshman year at Emory too btw. and good luck with transferring.
if you have question, feel free to pm me

hah hey david. 나 누군지 아냐?

ya i wish my gpa was a bit harder. I heard about the girl that got into clas with a 3.4 i was like ***?

i think you’ll stand a good chance if you write strong essays

Not to be rude, but whats the real advantage of transferring from the 17th ranked uni to the 15th ranked uni?

better finance recruiting, fit, smarter kids, better financial aid.

south is hot, etc.

there are other reasons besides ranking anyway

so you think i have a decent chance ironic? I’ve heard AEM is impossible to get into. Specially spring session

if you can write stellar essays, i’d say you’ve got a decent shot. you can always reapply for the fall
