Emory Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

No email received…the one mentioned by AN124. Assuming it’s a reject for us.

But I didn’t get any email

Are you saying you didn’t get the email that the one person mentioned receiving? That email seems to be due to having applied ED1 to one college but RD to the other. The two colleges have their own admission committees. The RD application is still in process so Emory is making sure everything is in order for the RD application too. Some students received performing arts letters too. These were sent so students with performing arts experience could show those departments what type of talent the person has. The departments can in turn put in a word for that student to the committee stating that the department would be interested in the student. They audition however aren’t required and cannot hurt and applicant. They can possibly help. Students that applied RD to one school got the letters again followed by an apology from Emory since the information was already there with the ED packet. It happens to colleges and two committees.

Not getting an email may simply mean you applied either to only one school or you applied to both ED so everything is in order.

Sorry should not have been so cryptic. We did not receive the email either so we are assuming our kiddo did not get in.

Got it . We are so confused by these emails being sent to some not to others and then some ed1 kids got the performing arts email and some did not.

Thank you for clarification. It’s midterm time and so much happening at once.

So if an ED1 person got the performing art email they should assume they are deferred to RD then?

The performing arts ones only went to applicants that had an interest or the application showed participation in the performing arts. I believe the one today only went to applicants that had an RD application. So for example applied ED to Emory but RD to Oxford. Not receiving one is not something that should be read into either way. The only time I have seen emory tip a hat - and I am an alum would be for my son. He applied ED2 (and is now second year Oxford). My husband works at another university. He gets a benefit where we pay tuition to any institution and then the U he works for reimburses up to the cost of the tuition at the U where he works and then we pay taxes. We got a call from Oxford financial aid to understand the benefit in figuring out how that would impact cost. We got the call on the Monday before the Wednesday that the decisions would come out. That was only needed if he was into Oxford so we knew. Emory doesn’t tend to tip it’s hat unless they have to. You will know on Wednesday for sure.

No. They were sent in error. Emory sent a retraction. They came because the students had also applied RD. One school ED and one RD. The two schools have their own admissions committees so the emails triggered as though the students hadn’t applied ED1 to any school.

At emory right now it is finals time and ED1 time and setting up the QuestBridge accepted students too. And then the RD and ED2 apps are coming in so it’s really busy there too.

If you aren’t performing arts and if you only applied ED1 any emails you would have received would have been before the deadline and back in November.

Just like only some people would be asked to do an interview only some people would be getting the performing arts supplement request. Etc

When I went this wasn’t done electronic. I got a phone call. Hey we hear you play some instruments would you like to come in (I lived in Atlanta then) and play for us. At the time I asked would it impact anything and they said it could help but not hurt. I said that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play in an ensemble at Emory. They said no problem. I did get in and went to Emory. Once there I realized I wanted to play. I called. I went in auditioned and played with the emory wind ensemble and jazz ensemble.

My son chose to send his stuff in before they asked so I didn’t get asked but was told thank you. He is in the Oxford Chorale and plans on doing the University Chorus and maybe more when he switches campuses. It’s just another way to find out who you are.
