why no online notification of acceptance?

http://www.emory.edu/ADMISSIONS/announcement.htm ... its in the letter

WoW4201--this is the funniest thread title I've seen on CC yet

D did not think there was anything "special" about having to wait "up to ten days" to receive her ED1 decision. I bet if you took a poll, the majority of applicants would rather know sooner than later and don't care what form it comes in.

So agree Moe. And think Emory (and Wake Forest who is also online challenged) doesn't get that it makes them look bad, like they can't handle the technology of online decisions. Gonna write them a letter--after decisions are out :)

Hey, I heard MIT makes you wait, too... AND THEY'RE THE MOST TECHNICAL PLACE OUT THERE!

good pointeth.

:p speaking of MIT my valedictorian got in and she only had a 2100 on her SAT gasp

Actually, Emory is not living the dark ages. The entire campus including dorms will be wireless this summer Just about all business is conducted online via learnlink and OPUS with the exception of their decision notification.

In the big scheme of things, whether one finds out 4/1 or 4/10 is not a huge deal although I must admit that waiting for the EDII mail was an anxious time.

The notification by mail is old fashioned but they prefer this method:

"Thank you for the dedication and commitment that you have shown to Emory during your college search. Once again, we were amazed by the academic merits and personal accomplishments of our record-breaking applicant pool. Each applicant was thoroughly reviewed and given full consideration in our admission process. We are excited to announce that the application decisions will be mailed on Saturday, April 1.

Emorys policy dictates that our applicants are notified through the U.S. Postal Service. The delivery of these letters can take up to ten business days, excluding federal holidays. We truly believe there is something special about receiving your decision by mail, thus we will not release any decisions by phone, email, or online. We understand this is an anxious time of year and ask for your continued patience. The admission staff wishes you the best and looks forward to working with you in the future.

Sincerely,

The Office of Admission "

hopeful1, see post #2
