my D is torn between the two-$$ is about the same between the two after merit/grants..but tulane has honors program and entry into business school: emory you apply for entry junior year,--and hope....

she's leaning toward tulane, which she thinks may have a lighter workload then a top 20 school. possible law school later....
. she loves both towns and campus.... advice please?

i really dont even see why this should be asked? if money is the same and your comparing a top school to a middle of the pack type school, go Emory. Honors Programs usually take up more time so the work load would probably level off, tell her to buckle down and get herself a degree from a place that will allow her good career opportunities after graduation. And usually if you hold at least a 3.5 Gouzieta will take you.

i agree i would def go with emory! i have a friend who goes there and loves it! he says the nightlife is amazing and there is a great balance between work and play

Did she visit either campus? with time rapidly running out, it’s probably too late to get to both of them–However, a great part of her decision should include what she thought of the campuses and her interpretation of the atmosphere. Emory’s a wonderful campus from a physical plant standpoint (more so than Tulane) and she would be surrounded by a diverse and driven student body.

afitscher - get over yourself. Of course the poster should ask. Emory is not as highly regarded as you think it is (has little nationwide name recognition) and Tulane is not a middle of the pack school. Another reason why it’s a good question is the common pool of applicants: Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, NYU, etc.

i’ve heard that entrance into the business school at emory is not a sure-fire thing for students, and with business ever-increasing in popularity, Tulane will be more secure if your daughter is sure that she wants to go into business. They are both excellent schools and she will get a quality education at both, not just emory.

Both are diverse. 75% of Tulane is from more than 500 miles away. Emory is great for business. I’m biased towards Tulane for Finance though. Here’s why:
