Are the pre-med students at Emory insanely way too focused on studying? Do they know how to have fun?

if they were too focused on studying would that affect your college life? how do other peoples priorities prevent you from having a good time?

Well...it actually depends more on the teachers than the students. If they teachers grade on bell-like curves, and some students study really really hard, than they ruin the curve for everyone else...See, pre-med students need to get really good grades, so they can get in to good med schools...

At some schools (::cough:: Hopkins ::cough::) the pre-med students are uber-competitive (due to a curve) making life miserable for all pre-meds...It becomes Study 24/7 or get C's and D's...

I was wondering if Emory pre-meds are similiar to Hopkins?

oh now i got ya. i was really confused by the question. i plan on going to med school too. emory has very good acceptance rates to med school so i hear. i dont know how competitive it is, but ive heard the school in general isnt so much.

people study a lot. but not really. only some nut jobs actually stay in instead of studying, but for the most part, the workload, even as premed shoudnt be too hard. premed is gonna be a lot of work wherever you are, and it also depends on your major. NBB is typically the most difficult and whenever i say i want to major in it, people either look at me like im nuts or like im god.
im not premed though. i just like neuroscience. id suggest bio if youre just looking for med school. or chem, but i always found bio to be easier.
also my friend is at jhu and shes never mentioned that its crazy competitive. shes premed and she said her workload isnt hard at all. but she also had gtown as a likely.

anyway, the point being, no. people are not crazy studious. everyone studies hard, but its not at all ubercompetitive from what ive seen. and i odnt think theres much of a curve for most classes.
people are ambitious, but not any more ambitious than youd expect at any good school.

wow, i feel like i made no sense, and that i said absolutely nothing of use....um, i hope thats not the case haha. i tried.

Thanks for the help!

I know pre-med is difficult - as it should be...But at some schools it is more difficult than necessary...Thanks again!
