My sister said her college counselor told her when she was applying that if she put down both Emory and Oxford for her application, if she was on the fence, Emory would most likely admit her to only Oxford while if she only put down emory, she would be more likely to get into emory. Is this true?

(Nothing against oxford, but one of the reasons why I am applying to emory is because i like the size, and oxford kinda contradicts that)

If you don’t want to go to Oxford, don’t apply. The applications are evaluated separately. You can be admitted to both Oxford and Main Campus, only Oxford, only Main, or neither campus. Just checking off the box for Oxford doesn’t affect your admission chances at Main.

If you do the work, and do the work well, you will get As. Idk if that’s grade deflation. Most professors have higher than average expectations and it’s up to the students who are generally much better than average to live up to them.
