Applying to both Oxford and Emory -- could this hurt my chances?

<p>Would applying to both schools hurt one's chances at Oxford? I ask this because the Oxford committee might assume that you are applying there simply because you - ultimately - want to go to Emory. Then they may assume that you are not fully interested in Oxford.</p>

<p>Honestly, I'm totally cool with either school -- which is why I'd like to apply to both.</p>

<p>I know plenty of kids apply to both and some actually do get in, however, I am a bit different (<3.5 GPA, but 34 ACT) which means that I must consider whether Emory is even worth applying to or if I should just focus all of my efforts on Oxford.</p>

<p>My son applied to Emory, and got an email from them saying basically “apply to both”, so he did. </p>
