Hello, I do not know if this is a glitch or not but I received an email today notifying me of the Scholars program coming out on Thursday, January 29th about the decision of whether or not I am considered a Scholars Semifinalist. After a quick research, this is basically Emory’s most prestigious merit-based award with about 350 semi-finalists and 50 highly-qualified finalists. Well my quandary is that I never actually applied for this program yet am I still in the running for it? Apparently the deadline for the Scholars program was November 15th but I know that I did not turn in an ED application for Emory since I only put it on my RD list after the QuestBridge Match decision on December 1st. I basically sent nothing to Emory directly in terms of writing, the QuestBridge people took care of my application basically. This is the reason for my total lack of knowledge of the program which apparently I am in consideration for. Am I eligible to become a semi-finalist?
Yes you are! I also applied though QuestBridge and was a finalist. I did not originally rank Emory but decided to after I was not matched to my other schools. If you apply to Emory through QuestBrdige you are automatically considered for the scholars program. It explains all of this on Emory’s page on QuestBridge’s website. Unlike most of QuestBridge’s partner colleges, Emory required no further application material in addition to the QuestBridge app. No common app, no mid years, no further test scores, NOTHING! I was shocked, but relieved about the simplicity of the process. Checking the box confirming that you wanted your application forwarded to their admissions office was all that was needed and you will be eligible as a semi-finalist. I’m so excited for Thursday! I wish you the best!!
Thank you so much for clearing this up! I guess I missed that line when I was looking into Emory haha. I’m excited for tomorrow.
