Emory vs carnegie mellon vs northwestern in busines departments

hey guys
now that the deadlines for colleges are approaching, im considering some colleges to apply as business major

i've read some threads that discuss 'which one is better' among northwestern, emory, carnegie mellon, NYU etc, but im still not convinced which one i should apply to

my gpa is 3.9 and an asian passport

my friend in teppers told me goizueta doesnt even reach teppers' toe but im not really convinced lol

can anyone help! thanks

Looking at that list I would definitely say you should apply to Emory.

Below I posted a link to the most recently released business school rankings which have Emory’s business school, Goizueta, as the 7th in the country. This ranking puts it ahead of NYU-Stern (12), Carnegie Mellon-Tepper (22), and Northwestern which is not mentioned.

Emory’s business school has some of the best professors in the country as well as an amazing reputation. Recruiters from all over the country come to recruit students from Goizueta. I have heard several people mention that their business degree from Emory has put them at or above job applicants from many top Ivy league schools.

Also, I know it doesnt have any influence, but the campus for our b-school is also amazing. I definitely recommend you visit at some point.

P.S. Do not let financials deter you. Emory offers some of the best financial aid in the country.

Hope this helps!

Apply to Georgetown’s business school…great city, incredible university, great students, fantastic reputation, top recruiting, and a fabulous alumni network–and a spectacular new business school building.

Thank you for your response
It’s great to hear that the university i currently has such positive aspects
regarding you P.S. comment, is Emory willing to give scholarships to international students? Not necessarily merit based, but just scholarships to those in need?

Thank you for your suggestion and I’m also applying to Georgetown :)

I totally disagree with MattLeinartFan’s assessment. OP, I think if you post your inquiry on general forum, you will get a very different answer. Your response is going to be something like:
NYU-Stern & Northwestern* > Tepper = Emory
Other suggestions: Wharton (extremely competitive) or Georgetown

*Northwestern, along with most of the top schools like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Duke, Chicago, Princeton, and Columbia, does not offer undergrad business degree. That’s why it’s not on that ranking. Anyway, what NU has is undergrad certificate programs in either financial economics or managerial analytics through Kellogg School of Management, one of the top business schools in the world. Most students taking it are economics or industrial engineering & management sciences (IEMS) majors. The job placement has been outstanding:
[Kellogg School of Management Undergraduate Certificate Programs - Kellogg School of Management - Northwestern University](http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/certificate/students/jobs.htm)

All are good. I can’t tell you about them, however I’d imagine it depends on what you are looking for. Also, despite Kellogg being amazing, it is kind of unfair to compare it to Emory if it does not actually offer an undergrad. BBA. The OP is in good hands at NU if he wants one of the programs mentioned. However, I’d guess Emory is solid. I don’t really know many people in the B-School, but I have a friend who officially will be next semester and is currently taking courses there (he transferred from Miami Ohio). He seems to like it, so I’d imagine it’s not bad. I have no idea what B-school rankings mean so I can’t explain them. I just know that all of these schools are doing things right. But I say, if doing undergrad at NU increases chances of doing B-School at NU, consider it. By the way, why is someone advocating for Georgetown here? I think Georgetown is prestigious enough that it could clearly go without marketing within the Emory forum. Georgetown could simply ride off of its name even if the program was only of mediocre quality at this point (probably is awesome, but just saying that Georgetown is going to get applicants unless there is a huge scandal of some sort). If anything, Emory could use a boost or some marketing, especially if the rankings are now heavily dependent upon mere prestige and reputation (which probably govern job recruitment).

My final decision actually came down to Emory (Goizueta) and NYU Stern. To be honest, NYU-Stern has been extremely overrated by some due to its Finance program. Beyond Finance Stern has nothing special, and as far as finance goes anyone who studied it undergrad would most likely have to pursue a graduate degree as well to advance very far in the industry. Thus, overall NYU Stern’s one very good undergraduate department wont get you very far until you have to go back to grad school.

Also, I never said anything bad about NU. They do not have an undergrad b-school and were thus not on those rankings, but are still a good option. Still I would choose Goizueta over all of those schools, as would the rankings.

Also, to the OP there is a Goizueta scholars program which could potentially net you merit aid. I would look it up online.
