Emory vs. Lehigh

Hello,

I'm a transfer student from a UC, and I'm trying to decide between Emory and Lehigh for next fall. I'd appreciate people's opinions and thoughts about the two schools.

Here's a little bit more about myself: I'm outdoorsy, friendly, and laid back. That being said, I come from a very small, selective private high school, so I value rigorous academics and would love to be part of an involved student body.

I'm transferring because I'd prefer to attend a small to mid-sized university with a BBA program. My original school was too large for me- I felt like I was just a number. I want to create relationships with faculty members more easily. However, it would be nice to still be able to meet new people on a daily basis.

Thoughts?

Thanks so much!

Personally, I find Emory to be a much better fit for me both academically and socially than Lehigh, so I would choose Emory – but obviously I’m not you. What are you looking for out of a school besides that which you’ve listed?

I want to be surrounded by people who care and are involved in the community. The friendlier and more accepting environment, the better. (I’m used to dealing with what the east coast categorizes as hippies.) also, I want an awesome alumni association and a school of which I can be proud to have attended. I’m also planning on getting my MBA, so whichever school would best prepare me for that.

Does that help?

Both good schools – Lehigh is ‘known’ for its engineering program. Emory doesn’t have engineering. Emory probably has a better reputation in the liberal arts.

Going for an MBA – Lehigh positions itself as being very ‘entrepreneurial’ which could be a help in the MBA and beyond.

Only other thought – though both are classed as national schools, Emory is certainly the better known school.

End of the day, you won’t go wrong at either place.

Not far from Emory - Little Five Points (never to be confused with Five Points in Downtown Atlanta):
