I am recently back from a visit to both schools and have a decision to make where to apply early. I am thinking of a possible pre-med or business major . Good GPA and test scores. I like the climate of a southern school. Emory and Tulane both had beautiful campuses and aside from the Us news rankings I wanted to find out the main differences between Emory and Tulane. Academics? Social? Research opportunities? Job opportunities following graduation? Grad school /Medical school placement rates? Our tour guide at Emory who was pre-med said the internships/volunteer opportunities are very difficult to obtain and the school does not help much in this regard. How supportive is the pre-med office at Emory and Tulane? Do they write support letters for all their candidates? How does the faculty compare? Class size comparison?.. Student body? Thanks … !
Which school did you choose for early decision?
Tulane
A major focus of a Tulane education is the opportunity to participate in research under the tutelage of faculty. Opportunities abound in the Life Sciences, most notably Neuroscience, but also Biomedical Engineering and Biology of the Environment. Chemical Engineering at Tulane also has an orientation toward biochemistry. I would check out the Neuroscience page, and those of other disciplines you are interested in, on the Tulane website and see what the profs are working on and even contact a professor or two for more information. You really can’t go wrong with either of these schools. You are in very good shape in life in being able to choose one or the other. Keep asking people and choose where you’ll thrive academically and socially. Best of luck to you!
