<p>Hey - how many applicants did Emory receive this year, and of those, what percentage did they admit?</p>

<p>I'm too lazy to go do it, but if you go to the Emory Student Paper's website and search back a week or two, you'll find the stats for this year.</p>

<p>I couldn't find their 2005 overall admit rate on the emorywheel website.</p>
<p>I've talked to a current admission officer all about this year's admissions and I have found out pretty interesting information. He said though the acceptance rate is not clear yet, it's between 36 and 38%, slightly lower than last year's 38 or 39%. I work with the admissions office as a tour guide and help them out with other things, and I've formed a friendship with two of the officers. It's hilarious getting the inside information.</p>
<p>DCD -- I just came back from an Admitted Student Open House Day thing today. They said they received around 12,000 applications and accepted about 3,000 for 1,250 spots - so that indicates about roughly a 25% acceptance rate. But I think the Emory student is more correct in his figures, so who knows :. Yet, however, that's the statistics that the Emory people gave me TODAY.</p>

<p>There is definitely an advantage of applying ED.</p>
<p>I guess I could ask him but it's around 50% I'm sure. I doubt there's an advantage between ED 1 and ED 2.</p>

<p>We were at the Open house as well. In the parents meeting I asked the question "How many of the 150 accepted Emory Scholars matriculate?" The answer was 80-90. Earlier in a private meeting one of the assistant Deans told me that only about 60 Scholars a year matriculate. Even using the higher estimate, that would put the Scholars acceptant rate at 43%. These are the people offered 2/3 tuition to full cost Scholarships. Why does Emory have such a hard time getting top students to attend?</p>

<p>But, why do you keep bashing Emory? Do you have a personal problem against Emory? Every post that you've made here on the Emory board is always some derogatory about the school. Personally, I think that you and your daugther just had a bad experience at Emory. Your experience at Emory does not truly reflect the school and what Emory embodies. You keep talking about Emory as if it's a school that's second-rate. But, when I visited Emory, I was blown away by the plethora of academic and technological resources. The facilities are first-rate, and the students are intellectually electrified. I also visited Washu, University of Chicago, and University of Wisconsin, and Emory left the best impression on me. Emory is an excellent school, and I think that anyone should be honored to go there.</p>

<p>Please allow me that courtesy. I/we have a vested interest in getting to the heart of the matter that is Emory. Hard decisions require frankness. My D is about to make the largest decision of her life and factual information should be the basis for that decision.</p>
<p>To be perfectly honest, the number of Scholars who come to Emory changes every year. The class of 2005 has over 100 who came in as Scholars; the class of 2008 has 70. The reason this number is so low is because some people would rather go to higher ranked schools than Emory or because they have more substantial scholarships at other (usually public) schools and it's easier on them financially. Scholars is a recruiting tool to help Emory get the recognition that (I feel) it deserves: it helps bright students who might not normally consider Emory discover how wonderful this school is.</p>

<p>i heard something about them accepting too many people last year, so that would leave me to guess they accepted fewer people this year. i think i read that on here though... sorry i'm not in my right mind at the moment. i could be completely wrong.</p>

<p>She received the Deans Achievement Scholarship 2/3 tuition. She was accepted at all the schools that she applied and is of yet, still undecided. Her final three are Emory, Duke, Harvard. That decision will go down to the wire because Harvard's open house is at the end of April. </p>

<p>The speaker indicated that it had been over 10 years since they missed calculated by more than +- 60 students. They plan for this much variance and can absorb without problems. This by no means is official just the Admission reps response to the question.</p>
