Does anyone know what recruitment is like after graduating from UChicago's undergrad? Do most people just continue onto grad school? Or is there ample opportunity for employment? I am looking to go into the business track. I really would like to get a job at a large corporation after college (one that will pay back what I shell out for UChicago) and then attend B-school paid for by the company. Is there anything I can major in as an undergrad at Chicago that would help with that? And how helpful is Chicago's career/job department? Thanks!

Yeah, I'd also like to know what kind of academic record is needed for internships at i-banks, and eventually (after graduating) how heavily recruited students are.

when my brother was at Notre Dame University, one of his professors, who is also a partner in a major law firm (I'm guessing he teaches for fun), said to the class "when I went to the University of Chicago to recruit students, man, I could feel the intellectual electricity all around me". Yea, UofC has a really good rep with companies (I read it on a Business Week magazine). I plan to go into the financial world so do you think I would go somewhere that will not help me out in the future? No way. I plan to go into international finance and work with growing Asian nations (lots of money to be made) and UofC is very famous all over Asia.

if you do uchicago econ and then want to do ibanking or work financially, you're basically set. they even take into account the lack of grade inflation when they look at your transcript, so you don't have to have a 4.0 to get a great position (although i'm sure it couldn't hurt...)

How positive are you? And how's the average hiring salary? Because I do want to study Econ I think it'd be way fun especially with the Nobel Laureates. And they will hire you straight out of undergrad correct? Btw sorry if I sound like a total nutcase it's just that if I'm going to put in this much money (very little financial aid) I NEED it to pay back.

A Chicago education will definitely help. Chicago students are well known to be very capable. The average salary depends how lucky or good you are of course, it wouldn't be decided just because you went to a certain university.

Anybody with definitive answers on what kind of grades are needed for ibanking jobs/internships, starting salaries, and overall job prospects for econ/math majors? keelee maybe?
