Enclose postcards with teacher recommendations?

Do applicants still do this, or is there a better way? When my older son applied to college 5 years ago, he enclosed self-addressed postcards in each envelope for each college to drop into the mail when they received the teacher evaluations. Now younger son is applying and I'm wondering if he should do it too. Thanks.

It still works, and works well!

I did this w/S1 last year, including the postcard in the GC’s envelope too. I’m not sure if I’ll do it this year w/S2 or not - it was only marginally useful. I suppose if there’s ever a question about whether a school has received a letter or not, it’s a good way to prove receipt. There have been other posts on CC where having proof of receipt has been important.

Yes, My D (HS grad - 2008) enclosed stamped, self-addressed postcards for teacher recs and GC eval. All but one college promptly returned the cards.

My college counselor did this. Despite the fact that one school returned the card saying they got my stuff, they still lost my stuff! All the other schools sent the cards back saying they got it and I had no issues.

My oldest did this. It was really nice to know the recs had arrived. It takes a long time for most schools to update materials received on their websites.

My oldest did this, some schools sent them back, others didn’t. So, it’s a great positive confirmation, on the negatives she just waited to see them show up online.
