End of my search, but I only like 3 schools...Please help? :)

Auburn, UGA, Clemson (so pretty!), Alabama. UF is great but OOS is tough.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I’ll go check them out. I’ve looked at Auburn, Clemson, and UNC-CH online before, but the hardest part would be visiting.

Money is an issue, I would definitely need merit aid! UIUC is pretty pricey for in-state, and they aren’t very helpful in the financial aid department. My parents are going to pay 15-20k per year, and the rest is up to me.

^^^

Since money is an issue…some OOS publics won’t work because they won’t give you enough merit to get your costs down.

Alabama would give you free tuition for your stats…worth over $80k. That would leave your parents with about $10k to pay for room, board, books, etc… You’d graduate debt-free!

Bama has a very good B-school and Tuscaloosa is a great college location.

I don’t think any football schools ranked higher than Bama will give you even close to as much money as an assured scholarship.

Purdue would give you about $9k, but leave you with over $30k to pay.

UNC-CH is unlikely going to give you much/any merit.

Auburn has greatly cut their scholarships …you’d get $10k per year (which is half tuition).

apply to some schools you think you would like, see where you get accepted and then select your favorite schools out of the ones you got accepted and go for a visit. You definitely have to go on a visit before picking your school.

pierre0913 - I’m thinking that’s probably what I’ll have to do! I just wish I could visit before because I’d hate to go through all that effort for a school I might visit and not like!

mom2collegekids - Thanks for your suggestion and your message! I have actually looked at Alabama, but like I said in my message, the hardest part for me would be visiting to see if I like the feel. I think I would, but I also thought I’d love Wisc-Madison and I really didn’t.

You should go ahead and apply to Alabama now. In April after you have all of your admissions and aid offers on the table, plan a visit if it is still in the running.

I don’t think that anyone has suggested University of Northern Iowa. For some Illinois residents it can be cheaper than their in-state options.
