Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on here so I apologize in advance of any mistakes I may make.
I am currently in the process of choosing a school, and I am torn between Endicott College in Beverly, MA and Simmons University in Boston, MA.
I really like both schools, but for different reasons. I am planning to study graphic design and Endicott seems to have a stronger program. However, I love the location of Simmons in Boston and I feel like I would fit in with the students easier. I also got scholarships to both, 14k for Endicott and 27k for Simmons, which is another thing I need to consider.
Does anyone attend/know someone who attends either of these schools, and what is your/their opinion on it?
Thanks so much!
Both schools are good and both have a pre-professional pathways.
Remember, however, that while Simmons has ostensibly offered you more money in scholarship, what you really need to look at is the Net Cost of each school.
Total cost (including room&board, books, transportation, misc), minus Scholarships and any federal aid = Net Cost.
Because the overall cost of attending Simmons is higher, after subtracting the larger scholarship, your Net cost could still come out fairly equal.
You choice then becomes - city or suburb?
All that said, my vote (for whatever it’s worth from a stranger on the internet) is to go for Simmons, which is one of my favorite schools.
Endicott is a really nice school.
I would personally suggest that Simmons will have a more academically focused feel, better access to the city and internships.
The vibe is definately different than Beverly and Simmons is really meshed into the Boston college scene.
Simmons would be my choice, hands down, in general if the finances work, but for your major it could be very specific.
Also the students at Endicott I know certainly enjoyed themselves socially too.
Congratulations and good luck with your journey.
Hello!
My D20 just committed to Simmons, so I can’t say I’m an objective voice, but…
I don’t think you can beat the location, especially when considering internships. I also wouldn’t underestimate the gut feeling on “fit” - it is what drove my D20 to choose it over 2 other schools.
Also, the arrangement with the COF consortium should allow you to take a number of courses at Mass College of Art, which may make up for any deficiency you perceive with the program at Simmons.
Good luck with your decision!
