endowment update

From the school websites, I could only find the 2010 numbers for Andover, Exeter and SPS. Do you have the most up to date endowment numbers for other top schools?

Exeter: 860M (by 8/30/10)
Andover: 695M (by 6/30/10)
SPS: 381M (by 6/30/10)

DA…can I trouble you to convert those to dollar per student figures?

I am collecting total endowment for now, and will then find out total number of students, and calculate endowment per student as well. Historically, the order of endowment per student is something like Exeter, Groton, SPS, Hotchkiss, Andover… I don’t expect much change in that regard.

On that note, here’s a point of view on total endowment and endowment per student (it is talking about unversity/college endowment but is somewhat applicable to BS I think):

I don’t know about “better returns on their investments”, but what I see is that bigger schools with larger endowment can offer more courses, and more extracurricular activities etc…

No worries, when you have time. What I’m most interested in is how some of the mid-Atlantics stack up against the NE schools.

Choate: 240M (6/30/10)

Thanks for the Choate number. In terms of endowment per student, I know Lawrenceville has been up there right after Andover, followed by Deerfield then Choate. Don’t know about other mid-Atlantic schools.

Bump bump

According to boardingschool.com, the Hotchkiss endowment is $382MM.

^^but is this the end of 2009-2010 fiscal year number? Or is it posted somewhere on their website or sent to alum/families?

Sorry; I don’t know the date of such endowment data. (I assume that it is post 1-25-2008, at which time the THS endowment was $430MM, according to a certain NYT article I found.) Also, after a very quick look, I couldn’t find any endowment info on the Hotchkiss web site. Also, as a THS parent, I have not received, to my knowledge, any financial statements from the school showing any such info.
