Engineer Major Switching to Business ?

Engineer Major Switching to Business ?

I am currently a Freshman studying Mech. Eng. and have a 3.2 GPA. I am also involved with AFROTC . I don’t have any interest in engineering and wish to switch into my college’s Business program.

I’ll be in the Air Force for 10 years given I become a pilot.

My question is for after my 10 years in the Air Force , by having a BS Business degree instead of a BS Mech eng will this hinder or limit my future employment and hurt me while in a management position.

Is an engineering degree necessary to make it to upper management ?

I will also have obtained my MBA wile in the Air Force

Thanks

Forte,

Have you discussed this with your commanding officer? I know the AFROTC on my campus highly encourages engineering majors. Is the Air Force ok with your decision? That's all I would worry about.

I do think an engineering degree is more valuable than a business degree, but if you don't like what you are studying then you should switch out.
