Engineering in Air Force with ROTC?

I am entering college but am interested in going into the AFROTC but i missed the freshman deadline so i would have to start as a sophomore. My question is if i graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering what may i do with the AF? What might my job include?

I’ve sent you a PM with a link to another site that might be helpful. Good Luck.

I’m actually extremely interested in this topic and would like to see what people have to say about engineering in the military.

My close friend is doing nuclear engineering through the navy. Sounds like an incredible, exciting opportunity to me. My philosphy professor was an electrical engineer in the Air Force before switching to philosophy and he wasn’t very happy with his life back then.

That’s really all I have for you. I do think with a mechanical engineering degree and working in the air force you would have a really bright future ahead of you.

Rockoz - I’m in the military, Navy obviously. I have a BS in Naval Architecture and I joined the submarine community. After 6 years of doing that, I transferred to engineering duty which is ship acquisition and repair work. Although I didn’t really use my degree in my first 6 years, I did do a lot of technical work onboard the submarine. For the most part, you wont actually directly use your degree unless you do transfer to a specialized community within the Navy like I did, but having an engineering degree will help you understand how ship systems work.
