I’m nervous about this 25 x 25 engineering plan. There’s got to be some growing pains, and I’m not sure we want to get caught in it. Please share what you’ve gathered about what TAMU is doing to mitigate the growing pains when it comes to our kids’ education.
Yeah, is their any news about it besides the engineering academies?

Holistic engineering admittance with improve the quality of the freshman class. No one will get into engineering just because they were in the top 10% and applied early. Entering class stats should move closer to those of Texas and other top engineering colleges. Second, freshmen retention should improve. Both outcomes will increase the size of the engineering department.
@KievanRus - I read the discussions on Reddit you linked to. Thanks. One thing that everyone seems to overlook is that much of the growth will be in distance learning masters degrees. Other than needing more Profs, on campus resources will not be impacted.
I don’t want to sound like a 25x25 fanboy. There are certainly growing pains. My son is a sophomore AE major. He has consistently had problems meeting with an AE advisor. Then, earlier this term, the last AE advisor either quit or was fired.
