Engineering and Pre-med

Hey, this is my first post on CC.

I am a freshman at Vandy currently enrolled in A&S, in the pre-med track. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to do an engineering major (perhaps BME or ChemE?), and if it is, what would be the procedure for transferring schools? Some people have said that it is virtually suicide to do an engineering major and pre-med, while others have said that it is highly beneficial because of the back-up career in case pre-med doesn't work out.

Unless you want to do something engineering related in the medical field, or you’re doubting your choice of pre-med, there’s no good reason to. It will be a lot harder to maintain a high GPA in BME or ChemE. The combo isn’t suicide at all- BME probably requires almost all of the pre-med clsses anyway. Engineering is just tough and isn’t the ideal route for aspiring doctors.

Pancaked, do you know the average gpa is for a BME grad?
