I'd like you to know that the first google result for "Engineering AP Credit," not even "Cornell Engineering AP Credit," gives you the answer to your question. I know you're a new member, so please know that we appreciate it if you at least make some effort to find answers to questions that have definitive answers by doing at least a tiny bit of research. That said, according to http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/student-services/academic-advising/academic-information/ap-credit/ap-credit-table.cfm, engineering has specific AP requirements listed on the page. It says many non engineering subjects can give you credit, too, which the conditions of which are discussed on the general AP credit page at http://admissions.cornell.edu/downloads/adv_placement_intl_credentials.pdf

It seems to me that depending on your scores, you can get credit and or placement for either/both econs, either/both governments, and physics, but explicitly not statistics.

so even though i'm an engineering student, i can get ap credit for econ and government. will this credit count towards the 120ish credits needed for my BA? will this count towards some required elective credit?
Or is there even any required elective credit?

sorry, i'm confused. thx

so there is absolutely no point in me taking the ap statistics exam in terms of credits, etc...

unless you end up transferring out of C. Engineering into CAS or something, there isn't a point in taking the AP stat test.

You can get credit for gov't and econ as for electives I THINK. An engineer will be able to confirm that. i'm pretty sure you have some required elective stuff in engineering.

You can get credit for gov't and econ, and pretty much any liberal arts class you took an AP for (history, english if you took both, etc). AP Stat is only useful if you dual major.

There aren't really required electives; there are "major approved" electives, but those are essentially really loose distribution requirements, and there are also "advisor approved" electives, which are basically any classes your advisor is OK with.
