Engineering at Berkeley

Hi,

I'd like to apply to Berkeley this fall as I'm looking to major in mechanical or perhaps aero engineering, or otherwise EECS, and I understand that Berkeley is very good in this field.

I wanted to know how difficult engineering is at UCB, because I've heard that there's major grade deflation. Also how does Berkeley engineering compare to other top schools such as Stanford and MIT in terms of job opportunities and reputation? Are the classes much larger/very different?

Finally, does Berkeley do any exchange programs with UK universities, for example Imperial College, in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year?

I visited Berkeley just a few days ago after coming to California for the first time (I'm an international student) and really loved the atmosphere. I also saw Stanford, which was, again, amazing, but felt a bit more isolated...

What percentage of UCB students are from California? Is admission much more difficult for international students?

Thanks

You should carefully look at our catalogue: We don’t have aerospace/nautic engineering.

To be honest, I don’t think Berkeley’s engineering is that much different from the leading Ivies and others except for some of the extra lower division courses you get from schools like MIT. In terms of upper divison courses, we are at par with any top tier universities.
