I'm attending a community college, and I know that because of all the prereqs required for engineering, it will be a while before I am able to transfer out (prob 3 instead of the reg. 2 years).

What is your current situation?
Are you going to finish "on time"?

I feel like I shouldn't care if I take longer, as long as I finish. I just have to get used to the idea.

The normal pre reqs you should be able to finish in 4 to 5 semesters. Assuming you taking at least 4 classes a semester but like you said as long as you finish that is all that matters really.

Okay, thanks for replying.

Do you happen to be majoring in engineering as well?

I’m going through the same process. I kno how you feel. You have to take all thse remedial math courses. Not even that. You have to take pre reqs for Calculus and Physics. The process can take up to two years. Take your time. Try your best to take 4 courses per semester. I have one semester after this and 2 courses in the summer.

What I find even more frustrating is that students who major in th soft sciences or business find their process to be much easier, but that’s alright. Don’t mind that. You are not competing with anyone.

@knowledgeiskeyy: YES. that’s why im considering if its all worth it. im only decent at math, so i was seriously considering taking a soft science and doing really well. but then, no job prospects after…

Just work hard and stick with it. You don’t need to be a genius to complete an engineering degree. I am a little bit older (22) and in a similar situation of just starting the math/science pre-requisites at community college. It stinks to be behind, but don’t compare yourself to others. Besides, what else are you going to do? Get a business or humanities degree and be under/unemployed after college? Engineering has the best job prospects right now.

@dreburden

thanks, that makes me feel a lot better. esp when you say “you dont have to be a genius…” cause i definitely know ill be working my ass off to keep up.
