So I was wondering, how are the engineering classes at Dartmouth? Are they extremely challenging, not at all or somewhere in the middle?

And what jobs are open to the engineers post grad who chose not to stay the extra year for BE?

Answering your second question–
From what I’ve heard… after four years… you get a A.B or a B.A which is not recognized as a professional engineering degree for work… However it is good for those who wish to pursue masters right after their undergraduate degree… So it is better to stay on and do a B.E. if jobs are what you’re looking at and I’ve heard it is possible to complete the 5 yr B.E. in 4 yrs!!

Thanks!

You think it could be done in four years without significantly affecting social life?

I can’t say much about this because I don’t know a whole lot about the difficulty of Dartmouth’s engineering classes, but my cousin graduated with his masters in electrical engineering from Dartmouth 2 or 3 years ago. Since then, he’s gotten job offers from all over the country. From California to North Carolina to New York to Michigan.

So don’t worry about job placement out of Dartmouth. You ‘probably’ won’t be stuck in Hanover.

@ nocknock… I wouldnt know… as I myself am applying to Dartmouth rd 2013 fall… but Dartmouth itself says that a 5 yr B.E. “can” be completed in 4 yrs, but it will “restrict” the no. of minors you are allowed to take!!
