Engineering at USC?

How does USC's engineering program compare to others, specifically those also in California? I've skimmed through some threads about Electrical or computer related engineering, but what about the other kinds like Civil, Environmental, Biomedical and Chemical? What do current engineering students who like/dislike the engineering program at USC?

i am going to be an engineering major next year at USC in EE and from what i got from the presentations they gave and talking to students you get a lot of hands-on work. there are plenty of design projects, design competitions, for every or almost every engineering major in your senior year you take "capstone" classes where you are given a problem or project based on your focus of study and work on it with others of similar concentration. i really got the feeling that the curiculum is designed to give the students what they want, not for the students to fit into a rigid line of classes. one example of those projects is that civil engineers had to make a concrete canoe that would float, fit people, and function like a canoe without sinking or cracking. i wasn't so sure about it before but i'm really thrilled, especially since the president of USC is an electrical engineer and has made it his personal mission to make USC engineering on par with MIT and stanford

My son came home from Explore Day USC and just loves the Engineering school. He feels there is some flexibility within the program. In fact, he likes it so much at USC that he said he can add one more year to the bachelors degree program and get his masters degree. USC Engineering is just awesome. A lot of team work. It is also highly competitive to get into. I also read that USC is getting a huge donation (I think it was for the civil engineering program, but check on it).
