Just a copy/paste from the "official chances thread."
Thanks in advance :)

URM, great GPA, strong test scores and IS? You’re definitely in.

^ How is OP a URM? He’s white.

IS with those numbers you are most likely in.

I just wonder though, for as high as your UW GPA is and for how many AP and honors classes you must have taken, how is ur weighted GPA higher?

Oh right, I read non-hispanic as hispanic lol. but still won’t make a difference.

Pretty safe stats, engineering is competitive but from what I’ve seen I think you’d be well over the average applicant.

My school doesn’t weight honors classes, only AP.

“First generation” is not a URM but it IS a hook. Your weighted GPA seems a little low based on your uwGPA, did you take the most rigorous courseload? UMichigan likes their applicants in the most competitive majors to take the most rigorous courseload.

The only weighted classes in my weighted GPA were the 4 AP classes I took over my sophomore and junior years. I have otherwise taken all honors classes where possible, but those are not weighted at my school. In addition to my 5 AP classes this year, I’d consider my schedule to be nearly as rigorous as possible given the classes my school offers.

If this is an incorrect assumption, by all means, please do let me know. Thanks :)
