Engineering - Computer Science

The more I think about NCSU and my future, the more I hope to get into State's engineering program. As a career, I would LOVE to work at Red Hat or IBM on open source software.

However, it's hard for me to gauge whether I will get into State's engineering program. Everyone says that it is highly selective, but what does that really mean?

At the high school level, I am taking Computer Science 3/4 right now. I will take AP computer science my senior year. My current GPA is 4.3, my weighted is 3.7. My class rank hovers between 10 and 11 percent, depending on whether you are looking at weighted or unweighted GPA. Am I at major risk for being rejected from the Computer Science program at State?

I'd say your in. If you have a good rigor then I would say close to definitely. I mean I guess the program will be more selective since more students will probably apply but its not like you need a 4.0 UW and all Ap's or something. Smart choice too if you really want to work for IBM. I went to the engineering open house and was told that IBM recruit the most CS students from NC state.
