I’m going to be a freshman in college next year. My intended major is electrical engineering, but I’m not so sure if I want to major in that field anymore… How do engineers ultimately decide on which engineering field they want to pursue?
I’m also considering CS, accounting, and nursing as possible majors to switch into. I would like to end up working in NYC, my hometown, in the future. However, I haven’t taken any related courses in HS, so I have no idea how I will do in these fields. My parents would prefer me to pursue nursing, but I didn’t do too well in bio in 9th grade. I don’t think electrical engineering is too popular in NYC, since it is a financial center. I heard industrial and operational engineering majors can find jobs in NYC (Wall St). While a Wall St job isn’t what I’m aiming for, it is more ideal, since it is a job in NYC. Any thoughts on these other majors and the availability of jobs for them in NYC?
