Engineering Graduation

So I'm thinking about graduating in December, 2013 instead of Summer,2013 since I am switching my concentrate on Manufacturing instead of general mechanical Engineering.

Now my question is: Would I be in a disadvantage in terms of job placement if I graduate in the winter instead of the Summer? Do companies hire during the Winter?

Winter is a good time to look for jobs in manufacturing, because that’s when the companies fund budgets for the upcoming year’s projects. In the summer you would have to compete with all the other recent grads, but in the winter you would have the new grad job market mostly to yourself.

Plenty of people graduate in December and still get hired. I did so myself.

If not manufacturing, is it easy to get Mechanical Engineering jobs in general for Winter grads?

December graduation is often the best choice. Companies usually recruit to hire full-time once per year in September/October. December graduates tend to have an advantage in that situation over Spring, and definitely over Summer graduates.
