when did you submit your honors application?
@takingLs Congratulations!
@takingLs What engineering program did you apply to for your major if you don’t mind sharing
I submitted my honors app on November 25th, and I applied for Chemical Engineering!
Any body else got his acceptance these days ?
@USUG21 My daughter is still waiting and hoping. She applied in early August and was accepted at UT in mid November.
I called the office of engineering and according to the office the first honors decisions are going out in the mail this week. The person I spoke with was uncertain whether all the decisions would be going out and when the UT portals would update. Does anyone know what percentage of engineering students are offered honors? Is there a way to find out where the cutoff GPA or test score number is located? Just curious.
I got accepted on Monday
Anyone else get news?
no news here.
I just sent a Tweet to Cockrell to ask if there will be more decisions or if they are all out already. Will update when they respond. My future LH is still waiting to hear.
According to a response I received back from Texas Engineering on Twitter, honors invitations will continue to be mailed through March.
@NotSoPatient Will engineering honors acceptance be sent in the mail first or will it update on the UT portal first? I have heard different things and was not sure what they have done in the past.
@cheetahgirl121 IDK because my daughter is still waiting.
What do they mainly look for in engineering honors? Because I have high stats but my ECs are weak.
I still haven’t gotten my major tho lol
Engineering Honors letters are sent in the mail.
re: what they look for - I have heard some say it is very number driven (SAT >1500 or ACT 35/36 plus like top 2% GPA rank). I have heard others say, they don’t just look at #s, they look to see whether you engaged in extracurriculars or internships related to STEM. I think the criteria may vary one year to next. Seems like only people with very high test scores+GPAs have been accepted so far, based on a few other posts in here.
The first ones notified get the big scholarships, then the scholarships get smaller until about 10-15% of engineering admits are accepted in EHP. they finish selections in mid/late feb.
I’ve heard many say, just being admitted to UT Engineering is great and that besides the scholarship (which is not large for most EHP) and the special housing, there’s not much difference for regular vs EHP. Congratulations to those who get the big EHP merit scholarship, cream of the cream of the crop!
@SheTx oh okay. So the last ones to get accepted usually don’t get offered any scholarships?
I saw on another part of this forum that another person got their acceptance to Eng Honors in the mail today. I don’t know his stats, but he got scholarship money. Still waiting and wishing here.
So excited for DS 2021! He just opened a letter offering him a spot in the engineering honors program and a 4 year scholarship of 48K! That would completely cover the tuition!
35 ACT, estimated top 2 % (school doesn’t rank) along with very strong ECs, leadership, etc.
We are blown away!
