Engineering Idea?

Is the engineering idea part of the essay supposed to be/should be a general, slightly vague-ish idea in a field I'm interested in, or a extremely specific idea (this particular machine, with particular properties, by following this particular procedure, to get these specific results)?

I was thinking that this would be open to interpretation, but then I thought that if I know how and what I want to make, why can't I make it already? Would I be treating the school like a store or something? And, being pretty dumb and absolutely inexperienced now, wouldn't my idea be immature (if it is feasible, i.e. I can see myself doing this), or really naive (if it is an original idea, why hasn't it been done before...it would obviously have a lot of holes)?

..Yeah, I think I'm over-thinking, but then again, isn't this place where we all get paranoid?

(cue Paranoid Android)

I wrote my essay about creating a programming language. I didn’t get into detail about how I would do so, mainly because I have no idea how you would even get started on that, but I did describe possible features that it would have to demonstrate my knowledge and passion for computer science (basically, I name dropped a few languages and some of their nice features.) I also mentioned why I wanted to do it - because it would be freaking cool! I think they just want to see creative ideas, not fully formed ones. You are applying to BE an engineering student, after all.
