I want to study MechE and a major language other than Spanish. Which one do you guys think will be best for an engineer?

Also, do you think a minor in "Formal Organizations" will help? What if I were to choose between learning a language, and this minor?

Any advice/suggestions?

I'm not really familiar with the "Formal Organizations" minor--please elaborate.

As for the foreign language, it sounds great that you want to pursue one! Make sure you stick with it (become fluent) since speaking a foreign language looks great on resumes.

The language you want to learn depends on your personal tastes, location and industry.

Spanish, Russian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, French, German are all good choices.

Hindi is probably also a good choice, though perhaps not as much for ME.

I can understand Hindi well enough but don't speak as good (I can make the Indian person understand though, despite him rolling in laughter!).
Don't Chinese and Japanese take really long to study? I am going to start a language in my sophomore year and take it all the way through college hopefully. I was thinking I could study German and study abroad a semester in Germany or something.
