Engineering + minors?

May I ask, how do engineering students at UT apply for minors? What are the requirements and procedures? Thank you =D

im also thinking doing a engineering major and then a business foundation program? is that a good idea?

Engineering majors are only allowed ONE minor, and to do that you’ll need 12 hours in the subject with 6 of the 12 being upper-division classes.

To get the minor, you have to get it approved here: <a href=“Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request”>Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request;
Though you don’t have to do it until the semester you graduate if you want to procrastinate to declare it.

To answer seawee’s question, BFP is nice in theory to have, but I’ve heard that it really doesn’t make a differences out in the real world. It’s just a certificate to say that you’ve taken some business classes really. Though, it can’t hurt if you’ve got time to take the extra classes. But as a engineer, your schedule’s pretty set, isn’t it?

BFP is useless unless you really want to learn a little about accoutning and investments (something I do recommend!) The certificate is not useful, but the classes are fun and interesting IMO. This is coming from a business major though, so I really enjoy learning about finance and investments.
