Both careers are regarded as highly rewarding and challenging. I don't really know someone who has been in both engineering and medicine, but in your opinion, which of the two is tougher and why? I have to go with medicine since the work schedule is rigorous and a longer education is needed than in engineering.

Medicine definitely. You have to go to med school and residency. Also its higher stress.

I think that medicine is more difficult. But it also depends on your strengths and weaknesses in school. Most people would probably find medicine to be harder.

Depends. Med school is 6 years of competitive hell but if your an eng so is four years of college. So what ever you do. Don't do 4 years of eng and med. It may kill you.

Depends, I hate, detest, loath math...but I am looking forward to getting into medical school. Engineers have to lust after math.

For most people I have ran into, they don't care for the medical field because of the blood and guts.

Medicine is harder on the conscience, I'd say. Will I ever kill someone in the course of my job as an engineer? I can think of scenarios, but the answer is pretty much no. Will I ever kill someone, or at least not be able to save someone, in medicine? Depending on the field, most likely yes. With the stress that comes with the nature of the job and the work environment, medicine is harder for an average human, I think.

Medicine,without a doubt
