Can someone tell me about CSULB's Engineering program?
Is it competitive? Hard to get into classes?? Etc?

Can't seem to decide between CSULB, SDSU or CSUF

Thanks!

I know several people who are engineering majors and they seem to enjoy it. Engineering is arguably the hardest major at any school, CSULB is no difference. I heard the department is also really good at scheduling their students so they’re taking the right classes and can graduate in time. You should contact the engineering department for more details.

CSUF does not have a very strong engineering program. At one point, a few years ago, they were thinking of removing the program from their offering. SDSU has a strong program, but all majors are impacted whereas CSULB’s entire program is not. This makes it easy to change majors within the engineering college. It also makes it relatively easy to get the classes you need, though they aren’t going to be at the most convenient times. And, it could mean that you have heavy load days and light load days. IMO, this is better than not being able to get the class at all.

thanks Oct2010, I actually read somewhere too that engineering at CSUF is considered the weakest out of all CSUs but thankfully I got into CSULB so I’m way relieved that I don’t have to go to CSUF.

I’m thinking of going to CSULB for their MSME program. Is it hard to get in?
GRE? Do they also accept students below their GPA req?

Thanks
