My second son is considering studying Engineering Science at Trinity. He will be applying in the fall. At the other schools he will apply to, he expects to study Mechanical Engineering. I would appreciate any information from anyone with experience with Trinity's Engineering Science program. How are the classes and the professors? How about the availability of internships and post-graduate jobs?

(Sorry about the near duplicate post). CC won't let me remove or edit the "Engineering Design" post.)

I am an international student planning to apply next year (may be ED1) to Trinity University. I too expect to study Mechanical engineering. It would be great help if I could know more about the engineering course at Trinity. I am also looking for financial aid. Is Trinity generous to international students!

@Beaudreau As shown in your report, Trinity does not offer a specialzed degree in Engineering ? So, when I am a junior, can I specialize my major or it’s still general ?
Thank you .
@BaoThachVN You will graduate with a degree in Engineering Science. You could focus more on the area you are interested in, but the degree will say “Engineering Science.” You can still take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in any field and then be certified as an Engineer in Training in that discipline. You could also go to graduate school and get a Masters degree in a specific area.
@Beaudreau Does the degree of Engineering Science affect my job in the future ? I heard that good companies only accept specialized engineering degrees ?
I don’t know. You should talk to Trinity directly.
My son is finishing freshman year in Engineering Science. Loves it. Very hands on/design oriented with direct professor interaction and small classes. Began research with a professor 2nd semester. Offered his 2nd summer internship at NASA this summer in propulsion division. Program is very well regarded. Be a go-getter and look early for internships.
@KrazyKatMom Thanks very much for feedback from your son. We really liked Professor Jack Liefer when we toured. My son is still concerned about job possibilities and not being able to major in ME. It looks to me like he could take pretty much the same classes that an ME major would take.
