Engineering Student Needs Advice

I am going to enter my third year as an undergraduate Bioengineering major. I know many people don't consider it a good major but when I was applying to college I thought that it was a high demand field (which after reading this forums, I've learn is not true). I like the classes that I've taken so far though and I really feel like it's probably the best match for me from all the other engineering fields. I would really love to enter industry after I get my BS but based on what I've read, my options seem to be limited. My GPA is 3.3 from a top 10 school so my grad school options are very limited too. Since I couldn't get an internship this summer, I joined a lab at my school where we test equipment for companies (I do quite a bit of work with Visual Basic, Matlab and LabView).

I know that I should attend career fairs and network but can anyone offer any advice beyond that? How can I find opportunities in the biotech industry (mainly in devices or pharmaceuticals)? What can I do to make myself stand out more (it seems like it's very hard to get an internship/experience unless I have experience)?

Your position isn’t necessarily bad, you just have to figure out what you want to do. Do you want to work in pharma, design engineering things like prosthetics or medical devices? Your a junior now so def try to study more and try to get all A’s. Grad school is still within reach.

If I were you, I would be looking at research during the school year. The research component will get you into a grad program. A masters in bioE gives you more options in your field. That way you can specialize in what you find you like most out of your classes.
