I'm a transfer student and have applied for fall of 2010 for electrical engineering. I have a 3.5 gpa, but am missing one physics (heat, light, modern) class. How picky is the engineering department about prereqs like this one? I know some are more picky than others. Do I even have a chance of transferring there?

They’re pretty picky. They need to whittle down the flood of applicants to those they can accept, so the easy first pass is turn down all those that haven’t met the complete set of requirements. I actually had a counselor tell me that. You should check, though; do you need to complete the prereq by end of the spring semester or before you enroll in the fall? If the latter, you could take it in summer session somewhere.

I’m pretty sure you need to complete it by the end of spring semester

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Oh well. Hopefully UCI and UCR will accept me. You only have to have the year of physics done, not the year and a half. I’m pretty much counting on getting rejected from UCSB and UCSD because of it. oh well

Actually if you look on assist.org it says that only 2 physics classes are required and the other is recommended. But I think they usually want you to take all 3 before you transfer because sometimes the courses don’t match up exactly. I think you still probably have a decent chance at getting in.
