For anybody who's been accepted to Vanderbilt and gone to one of their admitted students day, do you think it was worth it? I have a prior commitment on the day they allow students to come and learn about the engineering program, but I could change it if I absolutely had to. I visited the campus and went on the tour, but I don't know if I'm going to Vanderbilt or Northwestern yet, so I guess it could be helpful. But if I could just find out the information another time or through another source, that would be much better.

My son was accepted into engineering and was invited to the Engineering Day too. We have decided instead to visit earlier (since it’s not for a few weeks) and then just go to the local event that they are offering. I think that will help him make his mind up sooner and we are hoping that we won’t miss too much. If anyone has different info - please advise.

My son found the Engineering Day to be helpful. He met a lot of other accepted students and had a chance to talk with them, met with professors, got a chance to ask about research opportunities, met older students and had a chance to talk with them about internships and such.

He had to decide between two very different kinds of schools, and in his case the visit provided the kind of information he wanted. Without that visit, I think he may have chosen the other school. (But that is just me guessing.)

I think one of VUSE’s strongest points is the obvious commitment of the administration and faculty to undergraduate success. The Engineering Day is one way they communicate that to students and their parents, if the parents accompany them. (Parents do not go along on most of the meetings, however, to the relief of all of the students, I’m sure.)

I am having to miss engineering day too, but I’m tour the engineering college when i visit next week so hopefully it will help me get an idea of what its like there
