Engineering vs Biology(Genetic Engineering)

So my dilemma is choosing whether to major in a type of engineering (mechanical, aerospace, etc…) or major in something similar to genetic engineering. I live in California, and from what I’ve seen so far, I didn’t see any majors relating to genetics in the UC’s. I’m debating between both because I like math and I’ve also heard that engineering majors make way more money and have an easier time finding jobs than bio majors. On the other hand, I also love biology and have always wanted to work on genetic engineering specifically, as it has loads of possibilities in terms of treating and curing all types of diseases. But I’ve also read that bio majors have a hard time finding good paying jobs and their options are pretty limited after graduating. I would love to hear anyone’s take on this.
Thanks.
