Engineering: WashU vs. Michigan

So money isn’t a factor (there’s an 8k difference but my parents don’t mind). I wanna study Systems Engineering and either double major or get a minor in finance at WashU. I wanna study Industrial and Operations Engineering and either double major or get a minor in finance at Michigan (I got into CoE and PreAdmit to Ross). I may wanna get a 5year MBA at either but not sure.

Here’s what I’m seeing now: Michigan is bigger (both good and bad), more Greek life (good), way better athletics (good) and higher ranked in both engineering and business, giving me maybe a better future with internships jobs and networking. Washu however just always gave me the right vibe. They flew me out twice and named me a Rodriguez Scholar, giving me a small fam-like group of friends. I feel like socially I would really stand out at Washu while at Michigan I’d be just another kid in just another frat. Once again, money isn’t a factor bc the difference is minimal I got good finaid packages at both.

What are your opinions? Will an Eng/bus degree at Wustl promote a good future as compared to that from Michigan?

Ps: I really believe that regardless of my choice, both schools are amazing academically and I’ll have an amazing time cuz (not to sound cocky) I’m a very extroverted kid that loves fun and will find his fun wherever he ends up. I think the onus is on the individual to create and sustain a favorable future regardless of the school.

At this point, you’ve made your choice, but I certainly hope once at either WUSTL or U-M, you’ll refrain from using “wanna” and “cuz.”
